I absolutely love history; from the baffling tombs and terraces of our pre-historic ancestors to the blast and blare of Roundhead cavalry at Edgehill. There's barely a corner of it I haven't spent time exploring - and books and words are an invaluable key to it.

From a couple of battered volumes I bought at jumble-sales as a child just because they were curious things, I now have a collection of several hundred books spanning the history of printing with the earliest printed in roughly 1470. Maintaining this collection is a fun job, and I have picked up a lot of different restoration and conservation skills, many of which I practice on my more battered and less valuable books.
